Mexico City heeft een indrukwekkende koffiecultuur en barst van de ambachtelijke bakkerijen. Vooral in de wijken Roma Norte en Condesa struikel je over de hippe cafés waar de koffiebonen met zorg gebrand worden en de lekkerste zoetigheden net uit de oven komen. In deze blog deel ik mijn favoriete koffie- en bakkerijadresjes, waar ik zelf ben geweest en met plezier een tweede kop koffie of gebakje zou bestellen.
Een van de leukste dingen aan een citytrip vind ik om de dag te beginnen met een goed ontbijt buiten de deur. Gelukkig zit je in Mexico City wat dat betreft helemaal goed. Vooral in de wijken Roma Norte en Condesa barst het van de gezellige cafés en hippe ontbijtplekken. En omdat veel hotels ook in deze buurten liggen, hoef je nooit ver te lopen om je dag lekker te starten.

Oh, how times have changed. When I moved to New York in 2003 I didn’t even drink coffee. In a city that never sleeps, do you actually need a hotel? Well, as much as I like to get the most out of my stay in terms of sight seeing (and coffee drinking), I do appreciate a good hotel bed to return to. And if there’s one hotel I know that has the perfect comfy bed, with 2 x 2 m king size dimensions, it’s citizenM.

It’s hard to explain why I love this city so much. There’s just something in the air that gives me butterflies in my stomach. It happens every time. My first reaction when I arrive is usually pretty neutral. Yes, it’s good to be back, but it’s also loud, so many people, all these buildings, dirty streets, etc. Is it really that amazing, I wonder.
