Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. Seriously, I wake up hungry and when I’m traveling I get terribly bummed when the hotel breakfast is disappointing. In London there’s no better way to start the weekend than meeting friends for brunch. A lot of the time that means I’m crossing half the city for some French toast or eggs royale, but I’m starting to discover more and more cool places on my side of the river. Such as Ben’s Canteen in Battersea.
Emma’s review made us all wanting to try this place ourselves, so why not do it together? So on a beautiful sunny Saturday morning six bloggers – Emma, Jaklien, Kasha, Nicole, Jessi and me – headed to Battersea for some brunch.
The thing with discovering new restaurants though is, if you want to try it, you’re usually not the only one. So we had to wait a couple of minutes for our table which wasn’t such a bad thing (I’m slowly getting used to this). And even though the place was packed the entire time we were there, we were told that this was actually pretty calm for them. Something to do with rugby on tv and men who care more about sports than going out for brunch with their girlfriends apparently.
The brunch was excellent. Great (Allpress) coffee, friendly service and delicious food. I need to go back at least five more times to try all the dishes that the other girls ordered. Maybe then we’ll run into Gordon Ramsay or the Beckhams who are supposedly frequent brunchers here. I’m sure they were at home watching rugby this time.
