It almost felt like I’d stepped into a Mary Poppins movie. With chimney sweeps and women walking around in Victorian dresses. King’s Cross went back in time this weekend to explore its gritty industrial past and to celebrate the transformation of the station and area.
The new Granary Square was once the place where barges unloaded their goods. Today the square is a great place to relax, only a few minutes from the King’s Cross St Pancrass station. With 1000 individually lit, choreographed fountains the square looks very modern, but you can still see its history in the original buildings around the square.
The restored Granary Building, which used to hold wheat for London’s bakers, now houses the University of the Arts London and some great (tried, tested and approved) restaurants, like the Grain Store and Caravan.
