With chimney sweeps and women walking around in Victorian dresses. King&#8217;s Cross went back in time this weekend to explore its gritty industrial past and to celebrate the transformation of the station and area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingscross.co.uk\/granary-square\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Granary Square <\/a>was once the place where barges unloaded their goods. Today the square is a great place to relax, only a few minutes from the King&#8217;s Cross St Pancrass station. With\u00a01000 individually lit, choreographed fountains the square looks very modern, but you can still see its history in the original buildings around the square.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The restored Granary Building, which used to hold wheat for London&#8217;s bakers, now houses the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arts.ac.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">University of the Arts London<\/a> and some great (tried, tested and approved) restaurants, like the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.grainstore.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Grain Store <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caravanrestaurants.co.uk\/kings-cross.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Caravan<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It almost felt like I&#8217;d stepped into a Mary Poppins movie.
