And if there is one piece of advice I heard and saw over and over again, it&#8217;s DON\u2019T do the Great Ocean Road in one day. Rent a car and take at least three days. So of course, what did I do? I did the Great Ocean Road in one day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Am I that bad at taking advice from other people? Well, yes\u2026 But that\u2019s not the point. I was planning to rent a car, but that turned out to be a bit of a problem on the Easter weekend. Absolutely!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Video: The Great Ocean Road in 1 Day from Melbourne<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xmTjdtrp8-4?rel=0\" width=\"901\" height=\"507\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now first of all, I get why you would want to take more than one day. It\u2019s one of the most beautiful scenic routes in the world, so you want to enjoy it. Around every corner is another gorgeous viewpoint and most of the towns you drive through are pretty charming. With\u00a0your own car you can stop\u00a0whenever you want and take as much time as you&#8217;d like to explore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, apart from driving past the occasional \u2018Oh, that would have been such a good photo!\u2019 viewpoint, I don\u2019t feel I missed that much by doing it in one day. It\u2019s just a long day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You start in Melbourne at 8am and get back around 9pm. But the good thing about not driving myself is that I could spend that time relaxing and staring out the window which on this road is pretty amazing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our driver \/ guide had put together the perfect playlist for every part of the journey which was often hilarious. I\u2019ll never call a koala a \u2018koala bear\u2019 anymore after listening to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=fB2y52jfRdc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this song<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure This is the most famous point on the Great Ocean Road. And it is spectacular. Don\u2019t let this ocean view fool you that it\u2019s this calm, quiet place though. Actually, no. Our guide had already promised us that it would get even better than this. And it did. Welcome to Loch Ard Gorge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s a sad, romantic story attached to this place (read it <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Loch_Ard_Gorge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a> if you\u2019re interested), but even without knowing about its history I would still say this is my favorite part of the Great Ocean Road. I wouldn\u2019t have mind spending more time on the Great Ocean Road, but I don\u2019t think I would have done more. It would have been <em>more time<\/em> at every stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe next time.
